About JamSoft

JamSoft is a small, one-man operation with high hopes. I hope one day to turn this into a freelance software developer company that I can use to escape the wretched normality of everyday working life. We can all dream.

In all seriousness, I do hope that this evolves into a much more important part of my software developing activites, even if the apps are free. I hope to make something that someone will find useful, but until that happens, the software found on this site will usually be demonstrations or simulations used to learn and test out my knowledge of Cocoa.

Brief History

The one-man behind JamSoft is named James. I’m and living in London, UK. I’m currently working for an iPhone software startup, with some exciting stuff in the works.

I began learning Cocoa and Objective-C out of the desire to develop for Mac OS X and upon taking on the XBlaze project. Since then I have been experimenting with the language and frameworks broadening my skills and knowledge.

As soon as the iPhone was announced, I knew I wanted to develop software for it. Knowing that the iPhone was built on the same foundations as Mac OS X and that all the skills learned on the Mac would be transferrable to the iPhone made it easy.

The rest, as they say, is history.

About The Name

Why JamSoft? A good friend of mine, named Richard, has a penchant for giving people strange nicknames. This was one that I ended up with, amongst JamBob, JimBob, JimJam, Jam, etc. I promised him that if I ever started a software company I’d name it JamSoft. And the rest is, as they say, history.
